For the past twelve years, the farm has leased the 63 acres of land here at 226 Charles Bancroft Hwy from the Monadnock Community Land Trust (MCLT). Recently, MCLT has voted to generously gift this land to the New Hampshire Agrarian Commons (New Hampshire AC). The New Hampshire AC is a non-profit subsidiary of the national Agrarian Trust (AT), whose mission is to support land access for next generation farmers.  With successful fundraise and land transfer completed, Normanton Farms will sign a 99 year lease agreement with New Hampshire AC to ensure that this land continues to be farmed regeneratively for the foreseeable future!

We are extremely grateful to MCLT for providing us the opportunity to farm and steward this beautiful parcel of land. We appreciate their support over the last twelve years and hope to continue the relationship with them through seats on the New Hampshire AC board and as part of the community! However, the new relationship with the New Hampshire AC will afford us a host of new, invaluable opportunities to support our goals. From direct collaboration with other farms involved in New Hampshire AC, to access to funding for soil and habitat maintenance and restoration, to broad community engagement with other stakeholder organizations in food, agriculture, conservation, and finance work in NH and the region. This will make the farm more viable and will make the land more resilient to droughts and flooding, while improving wildlife habitat and increasing forage production for the animals we raise.

We believe this transition will expand our reach into the local community and improve our ability to increase production while maintaining sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.  We invite you to contribute your support to ensure this transition is possible.
